Lotusflower
Will we ever know the meaning of life? I doubt it. Will we ever even know whether there is a meaning of life or not? Yes. I have no doubts. I know.
flamingjimmy
Yes. I have no doubts. I know. Doubt is the origin of wisdom, and ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge I would have thought you wiser than that Swami! RootsBooster
Will we ever know the meaning of life? I doubt it. Will we ever even know whether there is a meaning of life or not? The first step in approaching this question (in my opinion) would be to ask "is there any reason in the first place to think there might be a 'meaning' to life ?" If anyone has a reason, it can then be assessed further. I know of no reason, though, to think there is some kind of 'meaning' of life.
Lotusflower
Doubt is the origin of wisdom, and ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge I would have thought you wiser than that Swami! For my part I would have thought you more clever than to make assumptions based on an unprovable statement.
flamingjimmy
For my part I would have thought you more clever than to make assumptions based on an unprovable statement. So, speaking of unprovable statements, how exactly do you know that there is a meaning of life? Or did you just come on this thread to mock the unenlightened ones? Cyclone
There is no proof that life exists on other worlds, but there is evidence that life is very likley to be abundant throughout the universe. What evidence? ---------- Post added 22-01-2015 at 07:30 ---------- Yes it is very likley that intelligent life is abundant throughout the universe, its also very likley that more advanced civilizations than ours have long since vanished. Fermi's Paradox then? ---------- Post added 22-01-2015 at 07:31 ---------- I'm bigger than that. I'd still like to know how you're going to prove your statement. I'm going to assume that you want me to prove "I'm bigger than that." I'm not in this world to live up your expectations any more than you are here to live up to mine. Cyclone
Not really. I want to know how you will prove that you know the meaning of life. And indeed you might as well share it once you've proven it. ---------- Post added 22-01-2015 at 09:11 ---------- So, speaking of unprovable statements, how exactly do you know that there is a meaning of life? This post of flammingjimmy which you seem to have ignored.
flamingjimmy
I'm bigger than that. Your first post on this thread proves otherwise.
