Increase in shoplifting

Recommended Posts

Was going to say similar, at no point in the article does it suggest the influx of migrants are responsible for the rise in shoplifting

last time I watched crimewatch I bearly saw anyone wanted with an English name or face lol.

In the same period, overall crime has decreased. Is this due to the influx of foreign people having a positive influence on the indigenous population?

Or maybe people know its just not worth the effort trying to report it to an answer machine. After all other than a crime number what happens? Zero.

Is it a coincidence that with the influx of foreign people to our shores there is an increase in shoplifting? Are the two connected?

Is it our open borders policy that has contributed to this 10 year increase?

I think its down to government policy myself but what do i know?

What do you think?

When I went to Goa a high poverty area of India crime was low. Why? Because people brought their kids up properly. Poverty shouldn't be blamed ore used as an excuse nor blame the government for the scroat that steals. People should take responsibility for their own actions.

Unless there has been data released to correlate arrests, country or origin AND time in the UK then it's all just conjecture.

It could just as equally be down to more people having their benefits sanctioned, or the lack of decent stuff on TV for people to stay in and watch.

..some might say conjecture, some might say mischief making...dear me

Is the reduction in overall crime down to the "influx" as well....who knows?

The levels of immigration we have seen will have contributed to increased living costs for all and lower wages for the poorest, both are very likley to affect peoples ability to buy what they need/want and when some people can not buy what they need/want they resort to thieving. So yes immigration could have contributed to rise in shoplifting.

This is a very good analysis of the reason why shoplifting is on the rise,I think that more UK people are 'at it' because they know they have a plausible excuse to put before the courts in the current anti-immigrant climate,'immigrants made me do it' has a better chance of being believed by a judge now, when you have public figures blaming immigrants for all manner of things, including traffic jams......a friend of mine who has a friend who is a lawyer told me that

he heard a rumour that some lawyers may have begun using this as a mitigating circumstance for UK born shoplifters.
