Ginger1
Queens Social Club - Monday 23rd March - 7pm We are raising funds to build a new helipad close to the Major Trauma Centre at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital. The appeal is being run by Sheffield Hospitals Charity. The A&E Department became a Major Trauma Centre (MTC) in April 2013. This means that it has the specialist staff and equipment needed to deliver lifesaving treatment to the most extreme and urgent trauma cases. It serves a population of 1.8 million people covering South Yorkshire and parts of the Humber, Derbyshire and the East Midlands. The current ‘secondary’ helipad was built more than 20 years ago and is both too small and too far from the MTC. Secondary means that patients must be transferred from the helicopter into a land ambulance then driven to the emergency department adding precious minutes and risking additional discomfort and complications. When a patient has major trauma, the faster a patient receives specialist treatment, the higher their chances of surviving or surviving well. It means that every second really can count! STARRING....
