joe soap
I don't think I ever questioned who had lived in our house before we did. We moved into no. 64 around 1954; I was only about one year old but this is what I understood from my Mom and Dad. At no, 62 was Mr and Mrs Page and at 60 the Wilds. Next may have been Barstows and then Greenwoods.

warday
I have a picture of Sheffield Lane top which I am trying to identify the year. There are two shops on the photo. The first one is of the old Co-op ( which was there for quite a few years) next door is a shop with the name M.JOHNSTON over the door. I don't know what this shop sold but can anyone enlighten me as to when it could have been? ( this shop is now an electronic ciggy shop). Not a lot to go on but someone might know. Yes i remember the shop i was a barman at the pheasant pub i started work their in the late 60s too the late 70s their where two shops between the co-op & the pheasant one was a lady's outfitters the other a carpet & lino shop. hope my input is helpful. little malc
The tram with 'special' was running to commemorate the final tram in 1960. This is probably why the photo was taken. I remember going into town on a wet cold night to watch a parade of illuminated trams passing through town. Like most kids we put pennies on the line which the tram wheels squashed, then of course we had a memento of this historic event.
