sgtkate
Call me old fashioned but isn't drug use and the growing of cannabis a bit, completely and terribly illegal? *Pedant warning* illegal drug use is of course illegal, but booze is just fine

Jeffrey Shaw
What if the accounts were disclosed to HSBC and HSBC continued to help those customers keep the accounts undisclosed to the tax man? The answer surely depends on whether HSBC- or its Swiss arm- has any statutorily-imposed duty to disclose. Banking confidentiality/DPA, you see. go4it
I buy from someone else who does just the same. No different from growing your own veg.......apart from the illegality. Does that person declare the income they receive from you? You are helping them to avoid tax. Tax avoidance and criminal behaviour. Whatever you want to do in life is up to you. But please don't rant on about the ethics of tax avoidance when you are doing it yourself!

No he isn't, whatever his drug dealer does with his taxes isn't any concern of Bonzo. The dealer should probably ask HSBC how to launder their money properly, they seem experienced, although they got caught, so maybe some other bank is more discrete. ECCOnoob
But HSBC were advising customers on how to dodge taxes. Legally or illegally? If an accountant/bank/lawyer tell me how I can reduce my tax liabilities legally or place money elsewhere legally where it does not have to be declared they are perfectly entitled to do so and I am perfectly entitled to use such a scheme. What's your point?
