poppet2
That's is a great idea Yes, but don't you feel sorry for all those council tenants that had to pay for their council property?
Cyclone
Terrible idea, rewarding people for previously having been feckless... And nothing to stop them going back to being feckless afterwards (not that there are a large number of this type, it's a minority, so why bother with such a divisive measure to address it)? The idea is they get the house, then run up a massive mortgage with one of the banks. Loose the place and the bank clears up. Nice way of funnelling money from public housing into the banks while at the same time looking like you're doing something good :hihi:

Alan Ladd
Excellent idea from a great minister. Whats wrong with giving someone an incentive in life? If someone has been feckless in their youth but have changed, have decided to be a contributor rather than a dependent good luck to them. Great idea. ---------- Post added 12-02-2015 at 11:44 ---------- The idea is they get the house, then run up a massive mortgage with one of the banks. Loose the place and the bank clears up. davyboy
How many council houses are there in the country? I thought most had either been sold to tenants at a discount or to housing associations.
