Weatherspoons coming to Meadowhall

We go to the Sir Francis Newton (near the hospital) on a Thursday after circuits and it's usually pretty decent. Wetherspoons serve pretty much the same menu everywhere. Might check this out. :)

As Wetherspoon often choose interesting names for their pubs, how about we get the ball rolling with a few ideas?

Be good if we could get a pub named by SF readers and contributers!

I'll start, how about, "The Busted Overdraft"

Seriously, maybe a throw back to the steelworks that used to be on the site?

Maybe...."The Steckel Mill" (google it if you want the steel definition) :)

True dat. When I was in the north east they wanted to name the new Middlesbrpugh Spoons 'Ironopolis' in reference to the steel mills which used to be there. However, they came under challenge from a once-monthly nightclub night of the same name in the area so backed down. It ended up being called 'The Swatters Carr' due to an old cricket pitch nearby. But maybe chance for them to ressurect what was quite a cool name?

There has been a wetherspoon's in the metro centre at Gateshead for years now!!!

Yeah. Strangely enough, though, they don't do the same deals as other Wetherspons - as in the burger and beer etc. Not sure why.

Because it's a premium location, the reason why their branches in airports and train stations (and the one in the NEC in Birmingham) can charge more. The one in Leeds station is expensive, you are best off going out the door and going 100 yards up the road to the Becketts Bank.
