Newfield school used to hold one every year just befor the summer holiday break. The music teacher jack Pye would stand on the metalwork shop roof and time everyone down from the top yard to a finish line outside the caretakers bungalow. There must have been upto 70 carts involved with all The departments putting a special in. A lad in my year (Jeff Clark won it one year. Great fun.

I saw the Red Bull, and suggested to some of my pals we could do this at somewhere like Shelsley Walsh, one of our hill climbing venues. they thought it would be a bit risky on a hill like that, with no brakes!!!

I suppose Norfolk Park could be a good place.

There's a few Kamikaze drivers here! Reckon brakes would be mandatory these days.

Have a look at the Richards Castle Soap Box web site. I think it would be brilliant if Sheffield could host this type of event.
