Oh, that's all right then! baza1 and family, neighbours, the wider community of Beighton, will just have to put up with a disturbed night, sleepless through the early hours because business interests are always more important than people. Do any of the food factory's directors live nearby?

I didn't say it was OK.

It was noisy for me too.

I didn't say anyone should put up with noise either, I was just passing on the info I got when I called Pennine to enquire.

I didn't enquire where the directors live either.

That was my next move Stranza was to write to Pennine Foods to enquire what was happening and to complain about the noise. When you called them to enquire, what did they say to you? It's winter at the moment so the windows are close but in the summertime we have the windows open and the noise will be pretty bad.

I called Pennine who passed me on to staffline at the site.

They told me they try and schedule cleaning wherever possible to avoid disturbing the area and ideally they do it on a Saturday or Sunday during the day depending on orders and staff levels.

If the machines get cross contaminated, the example given was nuts in a non nut product, they try and reshuffle orders to cope with allergens but occasionally have to do an unexpected clean.

They seemed nice and friendly and happy to explain.

I got the impression that they were used to complaints though.

Shame they can't just do the nice sausage roll smell instead.

Monday to Friday in the day when people are at work the noise would not be heard as much but when people are off work at the weekend they do not want to hear this industrial noise. It is not ideal to do this on a Saturday or Sunday.

I agree Baz, rush hour Mon - Fri would be great.

Chicken tikka at 7 on Saturday morning when I'm hungover and trying to get fresh air ......

I did like the almond smell but it's been ages since that.

It was like hypnosis I subconsciously bought a battenburg and a frangipan after getting a whiff.

  • 2 weeks later...

It's the weekend again and Pennine foods are venting industrial noise around S20. I finished work half an hour again and noticed it. See how long it goes on for tonight. Who would you contact for industrial noise problems? Is there a special department in the council. Does anyone know?

Thanks

Environmental health should be your first port of call.
