I won't sing God Save the Queen, says Morgan

Recommended Posts

I have answered your question regarding this issue but presume you are now trying to draw me into a wider argument which I will not fall for.

You didn't answer the question even slightly, all you did was respond with a question of your own, more commonly known as 'dodging' or 'ducking out'. Would you mind answering the question?

I'm a subject of the Crown, a title I deny as a republican..my existence has no bearing on royalty. You on the other hand are a subject as well as a servant..now get down stairs and peel the spuds, and while yer at it pull me a can.

Is there even a republican party in the UK or are you a member of a non existent party?

Maybe you should vote for the Scots Nats in the next election. That's about the nearest you'll get

Why does every gun toting nut job hik think that having republican ideals assume that American republican defines republic? The French are a republic they are in no way a mirror image of right wing nutters in the States. So please, don't equate my ideals to that of nationalist values like the republican tea party or NRA. You're just a right wing nationalist that hides behind "I voted for the Black guy" for a bit of street cred. You fool no one, you're a fake.

UKIP don't even come close to republicanism. Nationalism maybe.

Just the kind of reply I anticipated from you. You're a kind of sad individual. embittered and generally insulting to most people when you post. You don't have to feel any loyalty to the monarchy of course or sing the national anthem... you live in a democracy but you feel loyalty towards nothing at all...frustrated and aimless overall

I'm no psychiatrist but I think your problem is that you need to get some instead of trying to get your rocks off by sounding off with your predictable replies :hihi:

There is the Republican Party which is one of the two main political parties. As a political comparison it is similar in it's political views to your Conservative Party.

I believe our old pal Sklnt views a republican Britain as some kind of nation mainly presided over by a colourless left wing government led by an equally colourless left wing leader. long on promises and short on achievement .

A bit like Francois Hollande of the French Republic who promised to milk the wealthy and after a few short years has managed to reduce the French economy to a near basket case

I gave a logical answer and presumed you desired to expand the issue into a religious debate. Was I correct ?

The royal family never asked for a national anthem.

It was an English gingoistic theatre song in support of the German royals in the face of a Scottish led rebellion in 1745.

It became a greeting and has nothing whatsoever to do with loyalty.

Lord grant that Marshal Wade

May by thy mighty aid

Victory bring.

May he sedition hush,

And like a torrent rush,

Rebellious Scots to crush.

God save the King!

Visitors to the UK took the idea and even the tune to their own countries

"Loyalty" symbols and music was/are used to bolster unpopular monarchs, governments, economic crises and wars as well as promoting cohesion in times of real danger.

We in the UK do not need these symbols as much as other countries. We know that we are individuals and that we allow a system of governance to exist as it is a better alternative to any other on offer.

There are those who seek to impose their conservative, socialist or nationalistic view on other by appropriating history and its icons.

And when an American tells me about politics and social structure I would show them a picture of St Kennedy's Church in Boston or recite the following:

Utah State Animal - Rocky Mountain elk

Utah State Astronomical Symbol - The Beehive Cluster

Utah State Bird - California gull

Utah State Centennial Star - Dubhe

Utah State Cooking Pot - Dutch oven

Utah State Emblem - beehive

Utah State Fish - Bonneville cutthroat trout

Utah State Flower - sego lily

Utah State Folk Dance - square dance

Utah State Fossil - allosaurus

Utah State Fruit - cherry

Utah State Gem - topaz

Utah State Grass - Indian rice grass

Utah State Historic Vegetable - sugar beet

Utah State Hymn - "Utah, We Love Thee" by Evan Stephen

Utah State Insect - honeybee

Utah State Mineral - copper

Utah State Motto - "Industry"

Utah State Name Origin

Utah State Nickname - "The Beehive State"

Utah State Rock - coal

Utah State Soil - Mivida (unofficial)

Utah State Song - "Utah, This is the Place" by Sam and Gary Frances

Utah State Tree - blue spruce

Utah State Vegetable - Spanish sweet onion

... and even then tell you that that the UK Conservative Party equates with the American Republican Party.
