what is Respect doing on the list? They stood in only 10 seats out of the 651 in 2010 and unlike in 2005, won zero MP's.

In fact here is a list of political parties thatstood in more seats in the 2010 election than the 10 seats Respect did :

British National Party (325)

English Democrats Party (106)

Christian Party (70)

Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (31)

Official Monster Raving Loony Party (27)

Socialist Labour Party (19)

National Front (17)

what is Respect doing on this list when other parties that fielded more candidates are not on it?

Perhaps it's to do with the fact that the number of seats a party puts up in 2015 is irrelevant to the number of seats they contested 5 years ago.

The BNP will only put a few candidates up as they've collapsed. I'd guess the English Democrats will be the same. Most, if not all, of the parties you mention, including Respect, won't contest every seat in Sheffield. It will be Labour, UKIP, Tories, Lib-Dems and Greens in them all with some fringe candidates. The only contest will be in Hallam which could make history by kicking out a deputy-PM.

Respect who are/were just a front for the SWP in any case have collapsed too. In fact they collapsed before the 2010 election when the sad old German/Rees axis quit and decamped after falling out with the rest of the sad old SWP central committee after about thirty years on it. Their faction became known as Left List, a very appropriate term. One thing is for sure. Next to nobody is going to vote for Respect in May anywhere in the country, Respect can't afford to pay for more than a handful of deposits each of which except one, they will lose. Hallam will be a lot closer than it was in 2010 but I expect Clegg to hold on quite comfortably by well over 1000 votes even with the boundary changes the 15,000 votes he won by last time will be too big a majority to lose. Central which Labour only just managed to hold on to by 65 votes, won't be anything like as close this time, but it still be the seat in Sheffield with the least number of votes between 1st and 2nd place.

Galloway is a joke. He panders to the minorities by standing in constituencies with a high Asian population. He did the same in Bethnal Green and Bow before Bradford .He was booted out after one term as MP for Bethnal because the locals saw through him. The same will happen in Bradford this election.

He will then no doubt move on to another area with a high Asian population and stand there. This is what he does.

There is more to him than that, i'm not really a fan of him as an MP .. more of a fan on his stance against Israel and America but also because he is willing to speak up for normal people and see's through the evil establishment and is willing to speak up and say's it how it is ..
