Clarkson suspended by the BBC

Recommended Posts

I guess that will depend upon what they do, or don't do..

If they're in breach of contract, I'd say they're looking at a big bill.

I doubt there will be a breach of contract if an ongoing investigation is in process, suspension is a natural process when something like alleged assault is involved. As for loss of earnings I'm not sure his income has been effected while on suspension.

How about introducing a bit of logic - and probability based upon the known facts - into the debate?

What do we know for sure?

1, Clarkson is a major asset for the BBC and brings millions into the corporation.

2, Clarkson has been suspended.

3, The producer, who is not such an asset and is easily replaced has not been suspended.

4, The only witnesses to the 'fraca' that we know of are May and Hamilton.

5, May and Hamilton are Jezzas bezzy mates.

6, Despite which, Clarkson is suspended by the BBC.

7, May is on record as describing Clarkson as 'a knob' when asked about the incident.

8, Clarkson has form when it comes to being a bit handy at throwing punches at non threatening opponents.

9, Clarkson is not shy about resorting to litigation when it suits him.

10, Despite which news sources have been prepared to print reports such as this.

http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=16&ved=0CF4QFjAP&url=http%3A%2F%2Fuk.businessinsider.com%2Foisin-tymon-went-to-hospital-after-clarkson-allegedly-punched-him-2015-3&ei=MpcQVcevJM_iaq3IgtAG&usg=AFQjCNGjDH4MpBisgHNm7xO4BEiPD-Dnbw&bvm=bv.88528373,d.d2s

Should it turn out that Clarkson is found innocent of all allegations, this would have to go down as the most inept, ridiculously over hyped and completely mishandled incident in the history of the BBC.

Now, whilst that is not an impossible scenario, on the balance of probability, if you had to place serious money on it which way would you bet, guilty or not guilty?

You'll have to redo your sums - they haven't cancelled the shows.

Why?

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/jeremy-clarkson-top-gear-live-shows-cancelled-in-norway-after-host-suspended-by-bbc-10126986.html

Top Gear Live shows due to be held in Norway this month have been cancelled as Jeremy Clarkson waits to hear whether he will face disciplinary action for allegedly punching a member of the programme’s staff.

Four performances in Stavanger, due to be held on 27 and 28 March, were called off, The Guardian newspaper reported. About 18,000 tickets, costing up to £100, for the shows had been sold.

From the link I posted earlier:

All four performances will be rescheduled, with dates later this year to be confirmed within the next fortnight.

So ekerslike's comment about the Beeb having to refund £15m for cancelling them them is false - unless you assume that nobody is going to want to turn up to the rearranged shows.

Personally can't stand him, arrogant deliberately controversial git.

Never watch Top Gear because of him, not such a problem as I'm not a car person, but it annoys me when they have him as a guest on QI which I quite enjoy and won't watch if he's on it.

Makes a living out of being 'controversial' or as some of us would have it, obnoxious.

controversial? you just don't get it do you

Do you seriously think half of what Clarkson says and writes is done with a straight face?

quote/"I love Europe and it makes me happy that one day we will have forgotten the difficult birth and made the EU work. I long for a time when I think of myself as a European first and an Englishman second. I crave a United States of Europe with one currency, one army and one type of plug socket.":hihi:

The man's a provocateur and makes outrageous statements in public just to get a rise. A lot of people from both the left and right confuse that with "speaking his mind". I've never thought he does that and is truly ever sincere,on political or social matters. that's why I've never taken him seriously on those topics.

His opinions on cars and technology and our relationship with them, though, are a different matter. There is genuine insight and enthusiasm here.

btw/ I suppose the only thing that would make you happy is when jo brand hosts top gear along with steven fry:love:
