Opened a few years ago on Spital Hill its aim was to provide funds for local organisations. It even attracted The Secret Millionaire who gave it, I believe £100,000.

 

Now it is closing down. I haven't found out why, but I am wondering what will happen to its assets. It all seems very strange.

though things aren't always as they initially appear

Whenever I've been in I've had to avoid tripping over whatever has been left on the floor. It reminds me of Steptoe and Son. And sometimes there are people sat about having a cuppa and chat so you can't actually get to what you might want to buy.

From what I gleaned from Secret Millionaire, I think that was part of the intention/business model.

 

Let's hope new premises provide more space to organise more effectively.

 

I think it's a shame to see it disappear from its location though, as it seemed to be valued by and provided a good service for quite a few people in the area.
