Bad_Hair_Day
Around 4 weeks ago a caravan appeared on our car park at work. We've asked around the other units and no one knows anything about it. It's parked across 4 of our parking spaces so is in the way. The van is locked up and has no car reg number plate on it. We've rung the police and they're not able to help as its on private land. There are stickers with a CRIS id number in the windows - CRIS have the van on their register but can't/wont tell us who the owner is unless we pay. Neither will they pass our info onto the owner asking them to contact us so that we can get them to move it. Anyone got any other ideas for us to find out who owns it, or what to do with it? csd1
Move it onto a public road. From that moment the Police will show more interest and by checking the VIN number they will trace the owner through CRIS.
denlin
You have three options. Either do as previous poster has said and move it off your car park as it has no right to be there and is blocking your car park spaces or bite the bullet and pay CRIS and then hope the owner will reimburse you when they collect it. TBH I think CRIS and the police are useless since it does not belong to you and has been dumped. Actually I'd try ringing the council and say it's been dumped and it's causing inconvenience to your business
backwardben
thats the trouble with them little touring caravans , once they have done with them they dump them anywhere, should be scrapped all of them, we have them come on our site in the summer its like invasion of the travelers, cheapo holiday makers
Looker
Option 4; Sell it ! If its an old one, the owners probably will not have paid for it to be cris registered. They can not be bothered about it, so sell it , put the money in your petty cash tin and buy chocolate biscuits with it for your break for the next 12 months. Did I really say that ! If we had to get rid of it we certainly wouldn't dump it in someones car park. If you are not happy the way your owners run their site you should tell them not us Edited March 18, 2015 by denlin

Bad_Hair_Day
Thanks for a your replies. We've now traced the owner & hopefully he'll be moving it in a few days. Turns out he works in the yard, but wasn't at work the day we went round to ask about it, & none of his workmates knew that it was his!
