bungleboy69
I walk up Abbeydale Road to Owler Bar, then down to Baslow. Chatsworth is easily accessible from Baslow behind the Cavendish. Takes about 5 hours from Sheffield City Centre. Or you could get the 240 bus to Baslow from Sheffield bus station... A bit quicker, but not as nice... Not sure about the castle bit though... neeeeeeeeeek
I go by helicopter. You go up a bit, then left for about 15 mins, then down. Much easier and you miss all the traffic on Abbeydale Road.

bungleboy69
George Osbourne's new transport plans include a tunnel under the Peak District. I'd wait for that if I were you.
boldforester
The 218 bus goes to Chatsworth, drive and House, I think. Leaves from Sheffield Interchange, possibly stand D but check. About a 45 minute journey. If you're taking children, make a compulsory toilet stop first!
