Are the British prudish about sex?

Recommended Posts

Do you think that's ok?

No I dont, but that is how it is. The sex industry is becoming more mainstream, I think it needs action. Society has always changed, we must make sure it changes for the better.

I don't think we can know objectively whether the British are more or less prudish about sex than other nationalities. To some extent it depends what you mean by 'prudish', then you have to work out a valid way of measuring it.

I read somewhere that some staggering proportion of Irish married men had never seen their wives naked, but that was a while ago. Things may have changed.

Judging by the amount of sexting which apparently goes on between younger people in this country, it seems they are not particularly prudish, no...

Know wonder those Irish chaps aint seen their good ladies in the buff, if they're all staggering about.

Just as an aside.

That mobile phones, computers etc can now do so many things apart from just send and recieve lines of text is due in no small part to the efforts and investment in new technology by the porn industry.

Clearly they did not do so for purely altruistic reasons but they did do it and it cost both time and money.

The porn industry are quick to embrace new mediums, but I've never heard that they invest in Samsung, Apple, IBM, Microsoft or any of the other tech giants that have driven mobile phone and computer development over the last 3 or 4 decades.

Have you checked the shareholding of porn barons recently? ;)

The porn industry has long been driving haptic and plastics material science R&D quite hard (no pun intended). I'm sure you've heard of dildonics.

That seems to credit porn for pushing online credit card use and the early demand for increased bandwidth.

It doesn't credit the porn industry for computers and smartphones. Apple is almost universally credited with creating the smartphone market (although arguably they weren't the first, they were the first that was successful).

And IBM largely created the PC market, helped along by some healthy competition from Apple.

Yes, but again, that's not what was being claimed.

They are innovative and they do drive some areas of research.

This is overstating it though
