zakes
Cannon Pub, Castle Street. Bantycock mentions on post62 a chappy named Sass deejaying at Barrowboys pub. I have never been in that pub but I knew Sass. I knew him from Saturday afternoons at the Sportsman on Cambridge Street. He was the DJ and the pub was packed to the rafters each time I went theere. This was late ‘90s – early 2000’s. I also saw him from time to time suppin’in Yates’ where Sainsburys now is on Division Strut. I also went to the Jolly Buffer on Ecclesall Rooad when he had it. Some decent music was played at that joint. I think he may have ran a bar on Fitzwilliam Street, or I may have got that mixed up with a motorbike parade (procession) after his funeral. I was well acquainted with Sass, a top man.
