Jeffrey Shaw
We should adopt CET. Er, no. Europe is a very wide continent, effectively spanning three hours of time zones.
Guest sibon
Er, no. Europe is a very wide continent, effectively spanning three hours of time zones. We should be in the same time zone as France, Spain and Germany. Both from a geographical point of view, and from a business point of view. Plus, it would really irritate the kippers:wink: What's not to like?

Does our time change really matter, we don't cross borders on land which require a time difference, and businesses are undoubtedly in communication with locations on different time zones if we keep bst or gmt. Cyclone
Its cos of Scottish farmers apparently. Which makes no sense, they can get up as soon as it goes light, ignore what their bedside clock says. We should stay on permanent BST, or adopt BST and BST+1 ---------- Post added 23-03-2015 at 07:28 ---------- Does our time change really matter It means that we have evenings that go dark in the winter earlier than they need to, for the sake of making it light at 0700 when there are fewer people out of the house than there would be at 1700. alchemist
We should adopt CET. Why?? We already have GMT and we should just stick to that ---------- Post added 23-03-2015 at 13:56 ---------- We should be in the same time zone as France, Spain and Germany. Both from a geographical point of view, and from a business point of view. Plus, it would really irritate the kippers:wink: What's not to like? Surely they should use the same time zone as us? Why should WE have to conform to their idea of time? ---------- Post added 23-03-2015 at 13:59 ---------- Which makes no sense, they can get up as soon as it goes light, ignore what their bedside clock says. Lets just stick to GMT, after all that IS our time zone. Question, are Ireland having this same pointless conversation? ---------- Post added 23-03-2015 at 14:07 ---------- This article http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2015/03/why-daylight-saving-time-is-pointless/ seems to indicate that the whole thing is pointless
Cyclone
GMT isn't the best time zone to have though. It makes it light too early in the morning (particularly in summer) and too dark in the evening in the winter.
Maz3
If we're going to stick to one, it would need to be BST, which we already have for 7 months of the year as opposed to 5 for GMT. Those Scottish farmers are just going to have to install electric lights in their cowsheds.
