lilaclover
I have just searched Sheffield Council's Births deaths and marriages, and as far as their records go, My parents never did any of the above, which makes me a figment Any suggestions on how to open the boxes, and will it be a wasted journey visiting the department in question?? Vegas1
The online records may be incomplete, are you merely trying to order a copy of your birth certificate? Go in and speak to them, assuming they registered your birth in Sheffield of course.
Anna B
Maybe they were born / lived / registered somewhere else?

Tuppie
Sheffield & District Family History Society are transcribing the Sheffield register office indexes and they are not complete yet. We have transcribed the births to 1937 and the register office are doing the marriages and deaths. As Annie Bynnol states try http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl although that is not complete. Your other option is Findmypast or Ancestry which are pay to view sites

Tuppie
Why don't you post his name and see if anyone who is used to the indexes can find him. Have you tried to find him by just putting his name in FreeBMD and then selecting 1905-1912. Less is more
