Generous welfare benefits make people MORE likely to work.

Recommended Posts

A study has revealed that people are less likely to want to work if a countries benefits are less generous. This overturns the popular idea a generous welfare state produces dependency:

Interesting too that it's published in the Daily Mail, as the Mail are at the forefront of publishing stories of people leading the 'life of riley' on benefits.

The study says nothing of the kind. The statement was "I would enjoy having a paid job even if I did not need the money". This is not the same as actually being in work.

Here's a link to the study
