smithy266
Mrs Smithy266 and I have just shared a tube of Smarties. First, the tube is nothing like the proper tube I remember. The Smarties were tasteless, much smaller, and we were quite disappointed. The colours were nothing like the bright shiny colours of yesteryear. I suppose it is a sign of the times. Won't waste my money on buying any more.

psynuk
the tube was hexagonal-ised I'd guess for cost or efficient packing reasons, and the sweets E-numbers were defanged some time back due to heath reasons http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-479768/Watchdog-warns-E-numbers-make-children-misbehave.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smarties Smarties always seemed to have a faint chemical taste on the first lick and the chocolate now seems to be cheaper as well. souShofsheff
They used to weigh at least 1kg and come in a solid gold tube with a half price council tax coupon inside, "back in't day".

Very true! Also you could go to butlins without it full of kids laughing and playing.
Jim117
Never mind the Smarties, what about the Revels! Now they've cut down on the colourings it's really hard to tell the difference between a destined for the dog dirty coffee and a lovely orange one. It's health and safety gone mad! Event Horizo
Totally agree. Its like MB games. They made mousetrap, kerplunk, operation etc. In the 80s these games were built to last and quality. Now just cheap tacky inferior plastic that lasts a few weeks.
