When is it right to publish information on here about tragic event

I posted on here a few hours ago a link to a Sheffield Star article. I wont go into details for the reasons below. The moderators of the forum quite rightly removed it saying the relatives of those involved (I will be as vague as I can) may not have heard the news so dont want to find out on the Sheffield forum.

 

So why should the Sheffield Star publish it then. Surely they should have the same self restraint.

If the story is the one I am thinking of, then I can only assume the story was removed because there is no further Police action required (eg, appeal for the public / witnesses etc)?

 

As for the Sheffield Star publishing the story. . . I can only assume that (a) bad news sells papers or (b) you won't get the same idiots on there as you do here ruining the thread and upsetting the family of the individual involved.

B) probably more like it as the Star isnt that good at selling papers.
