dutch
Lately it has happened often that trams show up without being announced on the system. Look at the system and I think oh next one fifteen minutes and two minutes later there it comes. The system seems to have gotten worse last month, I may be mistaken but it looks like the amount of mistakes made by it are increasing.
Justin Smith
If they get turned off then the people with smartphones wouldn't see how to get the latest tram information from twitter.. ---------- Post added 26-12-2016 at 21:43 ---------- SYPTE for allowing them to spend £1.4 million on it and also allowing tram fare rises to cover costs. What about people without smart phones ?

dutch
They could become people with smartphones - would help them no end. No matter how smart the phone, it is not going to make that tram come any faster. It will only tell you what to time to get there and wait, but that info is only 50% reliable. apelike
Supertram haven't spent any money on this project. They had nothing to do with the project other than they provide the data for SYPTE to display on the screen. Many thanks for the correction and just highlights how inept the PTE is. ---------- Post added 28-12-2016 at 14:18 ---------- What about people without smart phones ? Precisely my point in a post a while ago.. post

hackey lad
Those people should go and get a smartphone! you are rather rude but instead of everyone having to get a smartphone , maybe the PTE or whoever is in charge should get their act together and get the system working properly
Guest makapaka
you are rather rude but instead of everyone having to get a smartphone , maybe the PTE or whoever is in charge should get their act together and get the system working properly I've not said anything rude at all - just an opinion that people would find it easier for themselves if they got a smartphone. dutch
I've not said anything rude at all - just an opinion that people would find it easier for themselves if they got a smartphone. That is only your opinion. There are still very respectable people who don't know how to use a smartphone. Tram info is getting worse now. Told me tram is due, five minutes later tram came, I ask ticket person what's the delay, she says no delay they are right on time.
pushtotalk
I complained/commented to the PTE and Supertram and got the gist of what Hook refers to, that apparently one of the many issues is that the trams (and the tech on them) are so old that it can't communicate effectively with the system that the PTE bought. When trams show a countdown, e.g.: 4 mins, then it means the tram is talking to the system and is being tracked. If the display shows a time then the tram isn't able to talk to the system so it just displays the scheduled time. Which is zero help. Apparently, the updates rely on certain staff being free to provide the updates via a temporary fix/patch but this has limits as to how how and when they're updated. But all in all it's something of a disaster that it still doesn't work.
