Can anyone recommend a VW specialist garage?

Recommended Posts

can anyone recommend a VW specialist, I need to have my car put on a VW computer because it has a problem that isn't displaying codes on generic machines. I am at my wits end and needs a VW specialist who gives a hoot to help me out... Thanks Rachel

To be able to put it on a VW computer I guess it'll have to be a VW outlet. Apart from Gilders etc it'll be guesswork as to who to go to.

I've used these in the past when owning VW, excellent service..

You need VCDS which is the VW system.

Try a VW forum as a lot of members tend to have their own diagnostic kit and may help you for a small fee.

Could be worth asking about your problrm on the forum.

hi all thanks for the recommendations! The problem: from cold it drives fine, when I stop (for shop for example) and restart it cuts out no dash lights no warning. then when I try to restart it takes a lot of cranking to get it going again. Had both fuel pumps fixed, it has shown no codes on generic computers. It did show ignition key which I got fixed and since then had the two pumps replaced. After the pump inside the fuel tank got fixed it ran fine for over 2 weeks, got the main fuel pump done this week and it lasted 2 days.

I wonder if your fuel cap is not venting (blocked) creating a vacuum. When you stop after a run, just before attempting to fire up release the fuel cap..listen for an inrush of air.

HI Skinz do you mean the fuel cap where the fuel goes in? (sorry Im not good at cars) I will try tomorrow... We have noticed a little tube next to where you put the fuel in and it is full of crap (for want of a politer word) could this be a problem?

thanks everyone for your help by the way

Yes, that's it. Don't try to unblock it unless you have a hoover nozzle over it first to remove debris, otherwise you'll just compound the problem..that's if it is the problem.

If you held a small bit of pipe and sucked on one end while blocking the other end you create a vacuum. If you remove the 'blocking' you would be able to continuously suck. Imagine your sucking being the fuel pump. I'm not saying it's your problem but if it is it may avoid lots of garage fees. Good luck.
