Don't forget Rach that not all faults will create a code.

Coolent temp sensors don't give a code but can cause problems.

What you need is someone who knows how to diagnose the problem when there is no code....a mechanics nose if you like!

hi all thanks for the recommendations! The problem: from cold it drives fine, when I stop (for shop for example) and restart it cuts out no dash lights no warning. then when I try to restart it takes a lot of cranking to get it going again. Had both fuel pumps fixed, it has shown no codes on generic computers. It did show ignition key which I got fixed and since then had the two pumps replaced. After the pump inside the fuel tank got fixed it ran fine for over 2 weeks, got the main fuel pump done this week and it lasted 2 days.

I had a problem with my Ford and most code readers could not find a fault. I Went to Carters Ford at Chapeltown and they found it. But That was the start of my problems.

Anyway, I joined a Ford forum (TalkFord) and they have enthusiasts and mechanics on there what know the answers to most problems. So much I know more about my Ford than the local garage (two thermostats for example on the cooling system).

Can I suggest you join a Volkwagon Forum? Someone will know your symptoms.

I wonder if your fuel cap is not venting (blocked) creating a vacuum. When you stop after a run, just before attempting to fire up release the fuel cap..listen for an inrush of air.

Since the early nineties fuel systems have been sealed and vent through a filter controlled by the ecu, drilling a hole in the filler cap went out with putting raw eggs in the radiator.
