Tory welfare cuts

And Labour had thirteen years to re-awaken them. What happened?

And the tories had 18 years previously and at least 10 years this time, more than double Labour, and the tories still have no plans to re-awaken them

Tell you one thing is strange, labour's vote share up 1.5% tories only 0.8%, we have an unfair voting system. I don't like Nigel Farage, but he got four times the vote of the SNP, and recieved one seat, and SNP got 59.

Labour should have complained more about the toreis, instead of becoming more tory like, thats why snp got loads of votes in Scotland, they spoke as an opposition, not people who were mildly irritated by tory policies. he should have taken Nicola sturgeon up on her offer to keep the tories out and maybe more people would have voted for them. By saying no deal, he dealt himself out of Westminister

Indeed. And judging by the contributions of Mandelson this morning, his answer was for Labour to effectively out Tory the Tories, except be much more Euro friendly.

In Scotland they lost the left. See the amount of abuse the Labour candidates were getting up there about being 'red tories'

In England Labour were seen as too left wing.

Mandleson and Chukka can bleat all they want but if they had shifted back into New Labour territory then defeat in Scotland was even more inevitable. They may have 250 seats now at best but the Tories would still have got 315+ and enough with DUP support to form a government.

Nothing was really lost by Labour's attempt to be truer to its roots. Miliband has nothing to apologise to Mandelson for.

The way the protesters harassed Jim Murphy last week was appalling. Unfortunately that seems to be the tactics of the hard left, if you can't win the argument, intimidate the opposition.

Labour have got a big dilemma but its been there for years, go to the left or go to the centre. All I've heard since Friday is Blairites pointing out that he is the only Labour leader to have actually won an election for 40 years, so it would seem sensible to follow that lead. However, Milliband was meant to be a move away from Blair as it was felt he had abandoned their core vote. And yet others think he too, (Milliband) didn't represent the core vote.

How do they square that circle?

My guess is that some time in the future the party will split with a new left wing party, and the centralists merging with the LibDems.

I think chukka is positioning himself as the new poster boy of labour politics.
