The only reason you're on here spouting your wit and wisdom is because of Bill Gates and he weren't born in Sheffield either :D

Yes but like so many inventions it took a Yank like Gates to get it up and running.

I suppose it's inevitable that I end up getting into these slanging matches with Le Maquis, his pal Skinz and sidekick red neck ronny who always like to remind me of and bring up the subject of my place of residence like it's something I should be apologetic about whereas I on the other hand, never mention Heeley Bottom :D :D

You seem to have forgotten that Microsoft spent years and billions trying to establish its proprietary global network, MSN. The web would have become established even without Bill Gates and in fact already was when he jumped on the bandwagon with IE. I remember using the Mosaic web browser at uni before Microsoft even had a web browser product.

I don't see how Scotland being independent would be a problem. Seems to be like everyone would be happier, on both sides of the border. Scotland would be like Ireland, joined to the UK geographically, culturally very similar, plenty of links, but seperate countries.

The Scots remind me of the French-Canadians. Cant make up their minds.

The intelligent Scots have made their mind up and wish to stay as part of the union. The stupid and/or socialist and/or nationalist people want to split things up.

Short sighted and narrow minded.

Unless the election results was to let everyone know that they made an error and have changed their minds. :)

Maybe, we could put extra tax on the Scots for hauling goods over our land, sea and air?

The Scots voted in a referendum that they wanted to be part of the union. They voted in a general election that they didn't want Miliband in charge of that union. There are one or two round here that did and haven't quite got to grips with the facts yet.:hihi:
