Advice Needed ,Thinking Of Moving To Scotland

Recommended Posts

My idea is to live just outside of Edinburgh rather than in the city itself, would have to rent buying anything would a non starter . Employment wise willing to do anything to start with to get started. I'm planning on having a short break in Edinburgh that will give a chance to find out more on accommodation and employment situation then will decided if its for me..

How old are you? What type of work do you have experience in?

I'm in my mid thirties now, Iv worked in pubs, Hotels, supermarket, office based work . The one problem I have is that have a damaged leg which has left me with a disability ( work accident) so employment needs to be practical and suitable for me.

Don't let a disability put you off. We employ a chap (support worker), who has no hands. Had them blown off when in the army, he now supports someone with learning disabilities. It's amazing how he adapted and can do most things you and I can do.

There's always jobs in Edinburgh for the type of work you have experience in.

I moved to Scotland in 2008, aged 39 and after being made redundant (profession export).

I took the first job that came along (support work). I grafted hard and never a day off sick. I studied whilst working and climbed the ladder into management and a honours degree, maybe a masters next year. (all paid for by the company). Doors always open wherever you go.
