blake
Corbyn won't win, but even if he does win, he won't make it through to the next election as Labour leader any more than Tory Ian Duncan Smith did.
drummonds
no, nothing like the Labour of 1997-2010 fortunately....how can you even begin to imagine comparing Jeremy Corbyn to anyone that was around and in power at that era? i was just musing that without the support blair had to get labour elected you guys will be in opposition for a very long time. it can only be a good thing. corbyn should be your man. Yeah, but dont be so sure, i think Corbyn has an excellent chance of going all the way, he has a load of support behind him that see that we dont live in a fair society, and want to see a change, when companies make billions and pay no tax, then that cant ever be seen as fair when everybody has to live with austerity, we just need the brainwashed masses to open their eyes and see whats going off, sadly most people still read the likes of the Sun etc...but we can live in hope ---------- Post added 29-07-2015 at 05:30 ---------- "The preference voting system that the Labour Party employs for elections ... means you can vote for someone even if you suspect that it is unlikely they will win safely knowing that your second preference will count in the final count." [Copied from a betting site] So apparently, all those first votes for Corbyn are knowingly protest votes with little expectation that he will win. Hogwash.... Eric Arthur
I would say to put a stop to the rich getting huge pay rises and the poor living in destitute How come Labour spent 13 years making themselves richer and the poor poorer.

banjodeano
How come Labour spent 13 years making themselves richer and the poor poorer. Yeah thats true, But i wouldnt call the people that represented the Labour party over the last few decades Labour people, Labour in name only, but thats as far as it goes, they were just as bad as the Tories for money grabbing and all in it for themselves. when you have one of the richest men in the world (Rupert Murdoch) giving his full support to Tony Blair, then you know that you have lost the true Labour values. they were more like Tories, but going under the banner of Labour Did that work in the 13 years Labour had in power..? as above... i'm glad you feel that way. it is my hope too that corbyn becomes your leader. perhaps it is you who is brainwashed. the sun has a circulation of only 1.75 million so is not read by most people despite what they told you during your brainwashing. so you can live in hope or even castleton but i think you will find that most of the population there who might have voted for blair won't be voting for corbyn. perhaps i am brainwashed....or perhaps it may be you.? A circulation of 1.7 million is not to be sniffed at, and holds quite a lot of influence, but mentioning The Sun was just a metaphor, i was encompassing ALL the right wing media (which is most of them) in that sentence, Rubert Murdochs greasy slimy tentacles stretch far and wide.. Being perfectly honest, Blair is not needed any more, power at any cost is not an option, there is no point in giving up your principles just to gain favour, Blair might as well just joined the Tory party, he was that close to them, and that also applies to 3 of the 4 candidates for the labour leadership that chose to abstain and side with the Tories rather than go with their conviction.? Dont be so sure that Corbyn hasn't a lot to offer the non left people in this land, he has quite a few proposals that he is putting forward, they have a lot of popularity and are attracting the attention of the average Joe in the street (not that you will have looked and read anything about them). That is the reason why there is a real surge in people joining the Labour party to vote for Corbyn, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3177805/Jeremy-Corbyn-surges-commanding-lead-Labour-leadership-contest-forcing-Andy-Burnham-place.html The three other candidates only seem to be able to offer Tory like policies, and Corbyn has given the party another option and put the Blairites into a flap, now actually wanting to cancel the vote because they are losing http://news.sky.com/story/1525332/labour-leadership-race-should-be-halted Thanks for your input and opinions guys

banjodeano
so what you are saying is the last time the electorate were prepared to elect a labour government was 1976. is that what i said.? What i said is we havnt had a true Labour party for decades, But now is a good time for people to see socialist values and realise that a socialist party is the way to forward, they see multinational companies making billions and paying no tax:huh: and everybody else has to live with austerity We just have to get the message over to people (which is happening) how corrupt the system is, and the way forward is through a socialist party ---------- Post added 29-07-2015 at 15:15 ---------- The leadership was voted in by the membership....quite convincingly if I remember.. But had there been a choice in candidates? a Blairite or a Blairite.? they only allowed Corbyn in this time not expecting him to achieve anything http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/steerpike/2015/07/margaret-beckett-im-a-moron-for-nominating-jeremy-corbyn/ they just calculated on having a fall guy......and lost
