Mr Bloke
Lots of words have different meanings....I mean where does the Yorkshire term 'snap' (meaning break-time food in a factory or wherever) come from? I'm probably way off here Pete, but I think you might have answered your own question.

Chris_Sleeps
I mean where does the Yorkshire term 'snap' [...] come from? I once had a job working on some factory floor time sheets (exciting stuff). I thought snap was how much overtime they'd done if something broke.

To my understanding, the word comes from the noise the sandwich box makes when you open it.
yorky15
Hi, thank you in advance. I think I need a word for that awkward time between 1:30pm and 3pm when if you don't eat soon it's going to be kinda too late to eat lunch without pushing back dinner to some crazy time like 7-8pm. Cause I'm always finding myself in this situation and I feel I need a word for it, thanks. Scabbydog! ---------- Post added 14-05-2015 at 18:37 ---------- Scabbydog! Mikes10
Jatropha syndrome Jatropha is a plant derived from Greek meaning nutrition ( I could be wrong on the origin )
aliceBB
You could just eat at sensible times, then you wouldn't need a special word. Seriously, if you go from breakfast to 2pm without eating any protein, your blood sugar will be all over the place and you will end up gorging on the wrong things, putting on weight, risking diabetes and suffering from fatigue. I only eat one meal a day (at around 8pm) ... I haven't put any weight on. Having said that, I eat two meals a day at weekends which probably helps keep my weight down.
