Protests today in Sheffield (16-05-2015)

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry to disappoint you ubermaus but this is completely wrong and I'm shocked you believe it.

Those who did not vote for the Cons cannot be considered as voting against them. All you can say is they didn't vote for them in a single vote / one preferred candidate system.

The ONLY conclusion you can make from the results is the largest number of people who voted in the election wanted this government and that is how our democracy and other voting works in the UK.

Absolutely. Sad though it is for me, Labour have 5 years to work out how to offer something that the people want more than they did at the last election. The papers are still going to be against them, as the majority are owned by Murdoch, so they have to try something different. Simply complaining about the outcome isn't going to change it.

It's a fact, projecting forward, the cons only got 36% of the vote of the turnout....so about 20% of the pop.

So we can safely deduce from the vote numbers the VAST majority of the population did not want a conservative government. And there are protests because the VAST majority of people reject the conservative ideology - sorry pal but if you back conservative youre in a minority.

And what about if you backed Labour?

the vast majority dont want a conservative government. Hence the protests. Get over it.

So it would have been OK for Tories to protest had Labour got 36% of the vote and won the election instead?

You're the one that needs to get over yourself. The "majority" that supposedly don't want this government didn't express it by voting for someone else instead.

More than 80% didn't vote Labour. More people voted Tory than any other party.

Did I see the right out protesting when Labour won from 1997-2010? Might have, but it wasn't very often. They generally just got on with making the best of what they saw as a bad situation. The left would be wise to learn from this example.
