taxman
There is a beer festival this coming weekend at The Closed Shop, Commonside. They are promising 8 beers on the bar at all times with a separate 12 on stillage. Thursday is also curry night whilst on Saturday and Sunday they'll be having accoustic music in the beer garden. Don't know what beers they'll be having on yet.
Andy C
A list of breweries have been posted on their Facebook events page, should be a decent selection. Also the same weekend is the Sheffield Breweries Collective beer tent in the Peace Gardens as part of the food & drink festival, also there is a beer festival at the Old Hall Hotel in Hope. taxman
Cider list (plus copied and pasted tasting notes) Barbourne (Worcester, Worcestershire) – Hopped Cider (4.0%) - A dry slightly hoppy cider. Fynburys (South Witham, Lincolnshire) – Rhubarb & Strawberry (4.0%) - Another great idea, using two of the fruits of early summer that are quintessentially English. It combines two of the fruits traditionally grown in the English countryside for hundreds of years. The sweetness of the strawberries combines with the sharpness of rhubarb to give a unique taste of the English summertime. Fynburys (South Witham, Lincolnshire) – Rutland Cider (6.0%) - Our glorious, still Rutland Cider is made using only the finest ingredients, and using the traditional skills of the country artisan. It can be drunk at any time, but it’s especially good ice cold on those hot summer nights. Gwynt Y Ddraig (Llantwit Fardre, Wales) – Black Dragon (7.5%) - Matured in oak barrels to produce a cider rich in colour, body and flavour with a fresh fruity aroma. Medium/ Dry. Hogan’s (Haselor, Warwickshire) – Poacher’s Perry (5.8%) – Fermented from 100% pressed English perry pears. Oakham (Peterborough, Cambridgeshire) – Oaple (5.8%) - One hundred per cent English. Made from English cider apples with a hint of freshly pressed Bramleys. Orchard Pig (West Bradley, Somerset) – Maverick (4.0%) – Ginger and chilli infused cider. Scrumpy Wasp (East Markham, Nottinghamshire) - Amnesia (7.2%) - A connoisseur’s cider, medium dry, created from apples selected for their soft tannins and traditional flavour. This classic cider has matured over the winter months to bestow vintage qualities - serve cool to enjoy the full flavours. ---------- Post added 21-05-2015 at 18:32 ---------- I went today, just to do a quality check before the main session tomorrow. Very good. No silly vouchers/tokens. No ticker tax (a half being more than half the price of pint), no silly third of a pint measures, no ridiculous prices. Looking forward to tomorrow.
