Flanker7
I remember early on the the scandal seeing BBC footage of a young girl, about 9 years old publicly and on air remonstrating with Saville about where his hands were going. This was while he was repeatedly asking (demanding) her to repeat that "Jimmy Saville is the best". Does this footage get repeated, no chance. The BBC must have miles of footage of Saville interacting with young people that, with the benefit of hindsight, show how obvious his inclinations were. But do we ever get to see it - not a chance. The current coverage of the leaked report is mealy mouthed and unspecific and short on any suggestions of actions to be taken as a result. What is clear is that the number of interviewee's is very low and the percentage of that number who wish to be anonymous is very high. This speaks volumes about the culture of self protection that is the BBC's main concern. Rant over ....... . . . . . . for now! I'm sick of the media watching each others backs. Do the independent media get serious about exposing the BBC - not a chance.
Eric Arthur
The head of the Metropolitan Police could well lose his job over this now that it looks like there was never a VIP paedophile ring and the supposed victim is a known fantasist and lots of reputations have been unfairly damaged. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/feb/08/decision-extending-met-boss-sir-bernard-hogan-howe-contract Decision on Met boss Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe's contract could come this week

With incompetence like that he ought to go. Like I said, none of them will ever come to court. that's totally different to saying there never was a paedophile ring. There's loads that has never come out in the mainstream media. Meanwhile MPs are busy trying to reverse the Freedom of Information act, and get a law passed that says any MPs who are arrested (for anything) should not be reported in the media... Eric Arthur
The UK's most senior policeman might lose his job over this farce of a case with zero evidence and you're still clinging onto the accusations of a single witness 'Nick' whose own mother says is "delusional". OK.

OK. Sorry, but you're quite wrong. 'Nick' is far from the a single witness. Last time I looked there were well over a thousand witnesses accusing VIPs. The actual figure is somewhere on this thread if you care to look it up. They are no longer children who can be ignored and fobbed off, but adults. Nick in particular is a respectable middle class man in his 50s with a responsible job, which is why he has been taken seriously. Police have been in the dock for not following up child abuse cases in the past, and now they're being criticised when they do. They can't win. What makes you so convinced that VIPs are any more incapable of doing these acts than any other section of society?

Eric Arthur
What makes you so convinced that VIPs are any more incapable of doing these acts than any other section of society? Im not but you seem to think that different legal standards should apply to so-called VIP's. You're really no better than the mob that kicked the disabled man to death because they thought that he was a peadophile.
Anna B
No, I think VIPs should be treated like everyone else. They should not be above the law. Nor should they be able to use use their special privileges and powerful contacts to avoid prosecution.
Alan Ladd
VIPs are being "treated like everyone else". Several are locked up for long sentences. Your problem seems to be that you ignore the basic principle of English law in that in order to convict you have to have proof. No doubt some will get away with it, an equal number may well be accused unfairly, implementation of the law is not easy, nor should it be. On a level playing field that might be true, but I believe there are serious cover ups going on.
