My mates and I used the Red Lion frequently in the 60s,it was part 3 of our regular pub crawl!.Our favourite was the Adelphi the start off point,next the Brown Bear then the Red Lion,after a few halves of Stones over the road to the Wharncliffe!.Up West Street occasionally the Saddle and on to the West Street Hotel to finish topping up our gallonage,I don,t know where we put it all but we were up for work next morning just the same!.Although not bright and definitely not breezy,I couldn,t do it nowadays I get a headache sucking a wine gum!.
