Guest sibon
I think they should all pay tax, insurance and be licensed! Mwah ha ha They do pay tax. Just not road tax, like us car drivers:hihi:
I1L2T3
The VAT on an expensive road bike is the same as several years road tax on a low emission car. Especially if one had to purchase two expensive road bikes. Anyway, Obelix, good to see a bit of sense has prevailed.

I1L2T3
low emission car = zero vehicle tax ?? Some are £0 tax. Lots at £20 or £30 too. Been researching this because looking to replace my battered old car - tax on it is £225 a year now.
Obelix
There's a surprise Result. Well played, Sir You, you...you great big cynical thing, you I actually didn't realise that I'd gone and picked a number that was appropriate to a followon from a CFA :-) I actually picked the number, so I though, at random. Useful bargaining chip though, especially when I waved the possibility of recovering costs at my consulting rate of £150/hour.... ---------- Post added 10-06-2015 at 09:49 ---------- The VAT on an expensive road bike is the same as several years road tax on a low emission car. Assuming his figures were accurate, his bike VAT would have covered my VED for over ten years....
geared
Don't you pay VAT on cars, and on fuel as well?? I don't see the point in bringing VAT up??
hyper
Don't you pay VAT on cars, and on fuel as well?? I don't see the point in bringing VAT up?? I agree, but go back further and I don't see the point of mentioning road tax either - especially as it doesn't exist. There is no tax related to roads, only to owning vehicles that emit banded levels of pollution
