unbeliever
I mean by my comment, whether we vote to remain or leave, the UK will continue to be a democratic and soverign state. A sovereign state is free to make all its own laws.

Shef1985
A sovereign state is free to make all its own laws. What offense have you committed and been convicted of under EU law that doesn't and would never exist in British law? We can then decide if you deserved clemency. unbeliever
We are whenever we deem we want to. No. Some laws can only be made if we leave the EU. Hence in order to remain in the EU, we agree not to exercise our sovereignty.
panzer1
It was an initial proposal for a european rapid reaction force that would be directed and deployed by the eu without having to go back to national govts for permission to deploy them. This is where the suggestion of an eu army has come from. Cannot say for other countries but there would need to be changes in national parliaments. Here in the UK the Queen still has to consent to deployment of British troops into conflict, its a hang over from bygone days but is still there. We would have to give that up ( loss of sovereignity ) or the UK contingent would not be able to be deployed under the eu.
