Just like the House of Lords and the House of Commons, except the other way around?

The lords can only slow down UK legislation. They are constitutionally and practically very much subordinate.

The EU commission is solely responsible for initiating legislation and has a nasty habit, as has been pointed out, of bypassing the parliament when they conflict.

Like that other failed politician, Margaret Thatcher?

Thatcher won 3 elections, lost none. Kinnock and Miliband won none. Kinnock lost 2.

The UK parliament does that occasionally, but the Lords does very well.

It's quite right for the commons to bypass the lords when they're heard them out sufficiently. The commons is elected.

It is quite wrong for the unelected EU commission to bypass the elected parliament. Or even to exist at all to my mind.

So by your description so is Michael Howard and David Milliband, but it does not mean they are lesser people.

Kind of does.

There's something wrong with politicians who have been rejected by the people as leaders, bypassing that democratic decision and becoming unelected leaders anyway.
