They don't pass any laws
No, but they formulate and agree them, then pass them to the EU parliament for rubber stamping. Cite David Cameron's negotiations to reform the EU. Agreement was reached without any consultation with MEPs. They are expected to simply pass the deal.

They don't pass any laws

What!?!

They initiate ALL legislation. In principle it has to be approved by the parliament but in no sense is is not "passed" by the commission.

What if the vote ends up with a 50/50 half remain the other half out. Any ideas?

Multiple recounts (to minimise counting errors) until a verdict is reached, even if it ends up being by 1 vote.

[/color]I'm sick of the leave side trying to stifle our success. On the one hand you say you want a prosperous economy while on the other you say we will raise the drawbridge.

It's a ludicrous standpoint.

Most Leave supporters agree immigration is a good thing and needed for a thriving economy

The issue is in the uncontrolled numbers of unskilled EU migrants that makes it impossible to plan social services and infrastructure for the future

By all means if you have the skills we need and will make a contribution to society, you are more than welcome

Ask not what this country can do for you but what you can do for this country

Multiple recounts are carried out, how do they judge which recount is the correct one?

So.

If there is a consensus amongst the people that it should be done, a consensus will naturally emerge in the main political parties.

Will it? Anything to do with Europe is the least likely thing to lead to consensus formation in the UK. We are literally 50/50 split.

The error rate falls with each recount and thus the truth is eventually arrived at.

A recount is more a of looking for votes which have been sorted into the wrong pile, or the number of votes in a particular pile having been been miscounted. They don't just empty everything into a heap and start again.

The probability of this thing coming out as a dead heat, given the size of the electorate, is negligible.

Once again. Tough. Democracy comes with a price, but all right-minded people accept this.

The commission doesn't pass any laws. You know that. Prove they do.

Your price seems to be trade and economic chaos. When it comes to paying for a home and putting food on the table people tend to stop being quite so idealistic.

4 points and then im gone.

1) Brexit wont stop immigration. The government can't even control non-EU migration which accounts for over 50% despite being in control. People from abroad want to come to successful countries. We should embrace our success not dumb it down.

2) We need migrants, 25% of our largest organization depends on them.

3) A freedom of movement clause will exist post brexit just like the swiss and Norway most likely, as these countries recognize we have to work with our neighbours if we also want to reap the benefits of free trade.

4) Immigrants from the EU make a 20bn net contribution to the economy. What the government needs to do is fund services if we want better services.

cheers and vote remain.:)

What are you questioning. Are you playing word games again?

Very emotive terms for a risk of minor short-term economic adjustments.

You'll have to forgive me for suggesting people stand by their principles with what amounts to a toothpick is hanging over their heads.

Good.

That has very little to do with this referendum. Brexit done properly will actually help highly skilled immigrants to come here.

That's just something you made up.

GDP is unimportant, only GDP/capita matters.

You do not sell democracy at any price.

This is not about immigration anyway.

No chance.
