Guest
The thing is, the UK is not an isolated island, it is part of the world and no matter how you look at it, will need to take its share of the population to remain competitive. China is very near to some measures, already according to others, the biggest economy in the world for 1,3 billion reasons. China might have a big economy but its an unsustainable crap economy on the whole.
Blaster Bate
All this twaddle about 'Baby Boomers' causing problems is stupid, remember when the 'Baby Boomers' started work and paying taxes they paid for people who'd never contributed. The 'Baby Boomer's' contributions should have well paid for when their time to collect arrived, if not where did it go in this new age of super technology? Now they need people to actually do the work.

tzijlstra
surely modern technology needs less labour. Yeah, because self-service at supermarkets was a massive success.
Blaster Bate
If you remembered the long queues in shops and supermarkets prior to self service you'd know.

Is that why Morrisons is getting rid of them again? Won't be long before the others do too. The Dutch supermarkets introduced these a decade ago and got rid within a year. Give them the money back that they paid which it appears was misspent and they'll be well able to pay for their care with 50 yrs contributions. Blaster Bate
No they won't, that is the issue. And you know that do you. Only those who've paid in should get paid out our benefits system is too attractive to invaders.
