darylslinn
My grandad used to work there in the 70's, I remember waiting in the layby on Shepcote Lane for him to come out when I was a kid. Arthur Leek was his name.
bankwood
I worked at Shepcote Lane Rolling Mills, winter of 1969. I was 17 and still an apprentice electrician working for Wheelers on the new 3 bay plant situated nearest to Ponderosa. I recall there was a Sadie worked in the canteen and a tasty young girl (my age then) lived near Millmoor. Anyway, in '69 they wouldn't let us power the gantry crane (H&S) so we had to use a turfed to inch the crane up the track as we worked off it to fix lighting in the 45 foot high roof - Can you just imagine that today?
