I can't speak for others but for me personally:

- Trams don't go from or to where I need to go

- Buses would involve 2 changes and take around 3 times longer than driving to my usual place of work

- I occasionally need a car for work purposes

- I like my own space

- Buses get stuck in the same jams as cars anyway in most cases

Fair enough.

I should have continued 'where possible'. My fault.

Its about time that there was some sort of independent analysis of and accountability for the increasing amount of avoidable traffic hold ups in Sheffield. If the council is found to be deliberately trying to frustrate people out of cars and onto public transport then the relevant council department should be cleared out and put into special measures by central government.

Imagine if EVERYONE did that? it would be like this http://lolindian.com/images/2012/June/24/4fe6e885344dc.jpg

I'm sure there would be Health and Safety concerns with this:roll:

The traffic is heavy because there are more people driving their cars in the same place at the same time.

How can the Council be blamed for this ?

The only way to stop it from happening is to have a congestion charge like London do - I doubt that will go down very well in Sheffield.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_congestion_charge

Heavy traffic and jams don't just happen in Sheffield.

By NOT giving more and more of our roads over to private bus companies.

By NOT placing more and more traffic lights and restrictions

and by simply letting us drivers drive to our destination without all this controlling interference. We all know a congestion charge is coming the Sheffield. We all know it. Thats why the council are manufacturing these road conditions to make it look like its whats needed.

No, more freedom, more of the roads and less restrictions.

Anyone with any sense would know buses don't go down Netherthorpe Road.

Sort of a rude reply but ill ignore that and answer you.

Traffic congestion dosent have to start building up in your road for it to have a knock on effect and disrupt your journey. As for your 'anyone with any sense' rubbish. No, youre wrong. Anyone with a knowledge of that road or who studies bus time tables in their spare time would know that. Neither of those apply to me.
