A Hillsborough runner has set himself the ultimate challenge of running 2,015 miles in 2015 – all in aid of Cavendish Cancer Care. He is set to reach over 1700 miles when he leads the start of the charity’s Sheffield Together event on November 15th.

The event, now into its third year, celebrates the support on offer for families across the Sheffield City Region. Starting at 11:30am on November 15th, the fun run is made up of a 5km lap or two laps to reach 10km. Entrants are encouraged to walk, jog or run with no timings or pressure. The most important part is coming together to support local families affected by cancer.

The event is suitable for runners of all experiences, and you can even bring your dog with you! Registration is open at http://www.sheffieldtogether.co.uk.

Staunch Wednesdayite, Mark Green, 45, chose to support the Sheffield charity in memory of a friend’s mum, who used the service before she passed away.

Cavendish Cancer Care is a local Sheffield charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with cancer in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The charity believes no one should face cancer alone and provides emotional support through counselling and complementary therapies to the patient, their carer and their children.

Mark said: “I only began running last year, but I wanted to do a bit of good with it. I’m currently on 1700 miles and leading off the Sheffield Together run is a huge privilege and hopefully my story can inspire others to get involved – hopefully in blue and white shirts, but I can make an exception!”
