Of that % how many successful convictions can be expected? . . .and that's in the normal course of events. In sexual offences the rate is much lower due to the one-on-one, he said she said, nature of the circumstances usually present at the time. Remember guilt needs to be proven beyond all reasonable doubt. 'One witness is no witness' as defendants legal advisers say. Could Saville have been found guilty if prosecuted? Certainly no-one was prepared to try. The media has a lot to answer for. Headline writers even more. Remember their job is to sell the story. We like to play the blame game, see heads roll and to demonise offenders. But, 1 ounce of prevention is worth 10 tons of detection. But that don't make a good headline. Rotherham council is corrupt to the core and I don't trust SYP to investigate fairly when they were complicit in the abuse in the first place.
