tzijlstra
old thinking, you need to be brought up to date http://www.laver.co.uk/content/mdf Forgot to add, you could ask at Richardsons in Firth Park. This he used the lightweight variety for most and water resistant for the kitchen (I think, he might also have used those green boards for that). Also it isn't a 'boat' it is a 24 meter 25 metric ton bark that they intend to live on when it is finally finished. MDF is very handy to work with, you can shape it to fit difficult spaces (of which there are plenty on this boat) and humidity isn't a consideration when the outer shell is watertight and over 12 mm thick steel all round. crookedspire
If you do need to cut MDF yourself please be aware it's very dusty to cut. I recommend wearing a mask and goggles when cutting it, also damp down the wood to further cut down the dust. If you get it in your lungs you will be coughing for hours after. Its better to use Plywood yes more expensive but safer and better to use.
