United57
I am going through France next week from Dover to Calais.which is the quickest route to get from Stocksbridge to Dover?
ALAN 58
To be honest there is no quick way, the best route is M1, M18, A1, M11, M25, and M20, it all depends on the time you are making your journey
United57
I will be leaving Stocksbridge at 5.00pm for 11.15 ferry.
ALAN 58
You will have to give yourself more time than what you have estimated i would be looking at 2.00am.Better to be early.
Guest sibon
It takes at least 4 hours to drive to Dover from Sheffield. In bad traffic it can take six, or even seven hours. Then you need check in time at the terminal. I usually use the tunnel, because if you are late, they just stick you onto the next train. The A1, M11, M25, M20 route is the quickest in normal circumstances.

I agree - you need to allow more time than that, although I think 2am is a bit extreme, maybe 2pm
InigoMontoya
Bear in mind "Operation Stack" might close the M20 too, and you would want to divert to the M2 in that case.

Flanker7
Dover is becoming a pain. You have to pre-pay the Thames crossing as well, although that should make it quicker. Depending on your onward destination- Is Newhaven with DFDS an option?
ukdobby
I Find M1,M25 and M20 quickest,A1 can be a pain at times in busy traffic, its a 4 hour run to Dover in decent traffic, like whats been said would start at 2pm just in case.
