Was lucky enough to be able to see Richard's warm-up show for the tour at Holmfirth Picturedrome last night. Superb show - he's on very fine form.

Support last night was from Sheffield's equally magnificent High Hazels - my favourite band since I first heard them over two years ago. It's a great shame that they couldn't have opened for Richard at the Arena Show too.

Meilyr Jones is very good too - saw his former band Race Horses numerous times all over the UK and have been to three of his recent gigs in London.

Roll on 6th November!

It's great to see Sheffield sucess!.......I played in the same band way back as Richards dad, Dave Hawley, fondly remembered by many Sheffielders who saw him perform way back!

Hmmm, pity it's at the Arena. I just will not go there for gigs these days, preferring the more intimate City Hall-type venues.

It's in the Steel Hall. That's where they bring the stage forward and only use the top end of the Arena.

I too prefer the smaller venues, but still looking forward to this one.

This show is taking place in The Steel Hall which is the venues most intimate capacity - worked really well on An Evening with Mark Knopfler and Jeff Waynes The War of The Worlds more info on Steel Hall and images of the venue layout here http://www.sheffieldarena.co.uk/arena-information/hiring-the-arena/#_the-steel-hall
