JackK0
Hello I was just wondering if anyone could tell me any info on kit car's buying them & Is the insurance cheaper etc
geared
You should probably head over to a Kit car forum, or buy a kit car magazine or something. I hope you're handy with the spanners, you'll spend more time working on the damn thing than driving it.
Snowglobe
Specialist insuarnce can be had at reasonable prices from places like https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/ https://www.hagertyinsurance.co.uk/ http://www.footmanjames.co.uk Shop around though after googling it as price varies depending on the spec of the car and mileage you intend to do. There are several kit car magazines out there as well.
code word
Look awesome drive like crap. Little to no suspension , engine that could hardly pull you out of bed. Again look great but that’s all. How do I know. I had many for sale years ago. At that time the insurance was the same as a granada ghia 2.0 Edited July 20, 2015 by code word

L00b
So what, a good twenty years ago??Quite. Having had a recent short lend of a friend's Robin Hood fitted with a supercharged 1.6L (...before he's added nitro to it, his current project ), I can certainly vouch that you don't need anything larger under the hood to show your rear tyres to most of anything on the road, including 'proper' sportscars and most supercars. Strong heart and good reflexes required. 200+bhp doesn't sound much of anything - until you realise the rest of the car weighs between a quarter and a third that of a small hatchback, so get your calculator and work out the bhp/kg ratio: stupid, bordering on insane (for public road use). The lack of suspension travel is in keeping with the purpose (these cars are as purpose-specific as they come: track-only, and/or the odd local drive on B-roads on sunny Summer weekends, the end), i.e. try and keep the bathtub (that's about the size and look of it IMHO) on the tarmac, driving side up. Anyone who buys one of these for use as anything other than an occasional 'toy' needs their head looking at. Edited July 20, 2015 by L00b
