Britain hasn't lived in isolation for thousands of years, It's this constant pouring in of migrants that has made the country great. We don't need to be self sufficient (as a nation) because were not isolated from the rest of the world, that results in North Korea like problems. People assimilating into our culture in small numbers over many years has not harmed it. What we are seeing now is like nothing before. To pretend otherwise is totally disingenuous. There have been vast numbers come in and have tried to not only keep their own culture, but to try and impose it on the British. What has made our country great is the class structure and the stiff upper lip. The world is over populated and sooner or later the resources Britain needs won't be available, because every other country will need to use the resources they have for their own population. Wealth is measured in resources and Britain doesn't have many, the UK has a huge debts, so it's not as wealthy as some people like to think it is. Everything imported from other countries also as an environmental cost, moving food from one side of the world to the other side of the world increases the global consumption of valuable and irreplaceable resources and takes resources away from people with a greater need. True multiculturalism would mean living in a society where ultra orthodox Jews ritually orally suck baby boy's penis's (yes you read that right), far east Asian's cook dogs and skin cats alive, and where Indians drop baby's from high roofs and catch them below in a sheet, etc etc. This would be true multiculturalism. It is part of their CULTURE. Cultures we can do without, frankly. I could add female genital mutilations by Africans and Tibetan sky burials and so on and so on.
