I was only taking pictures over a week ago with my brother in that area and did some up Pitsmoor and the old Pitsmoor Workingmens Club. Will dig you a picture out. Yours Brian. ricgem2002
I believe their is some fire damage at the site, what Iv been told the floors are really bad inside and unsafe to walk on.you believe right the fire damage was so bad the floors are to dangerous to walk on so a temporary "floating floor" is being fitted to help with the construction of the new roof
hobinfoot
Hello hobinfoot, Have you looked on http://www.picturesheffield.com and typed in 'wicker goods station' ? Amongs other pics there is one of the aftermath of the fire which, as you said in your later post, was in the 60s. Also, see my earlier post on this page with more pics. Regards, Peter. Thanks Peter. I've looked at the pictures and they bring back a lot of memories. The roof we sat on to watch the fire was a little further up from the Lodge it was on drive that led to some workshops on the other side a shop sold & excanged magazines at a later date. Hi hobinfoot, Thanks for that. A pity but can't seem to find a photo of the drive or shop you mentioned. The number 75 bus on the pic below at the bottom of Spital Hill near the goods yard entrance is on the route I used from Firth Park to travel to town. I may be on it! but had my own transport from 1960 onwards The pic is dated 'After October 1960 and before 1962'. The new looking AEC Regent on the 75 route, was one of a brand new fleet of Corporation buses that replaced the trams in 1960 on that route, so that confirms the first date. Was the fire in the Wicker goods station yard therefore in 1962 as this could be justification for the second date ?? http://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s25798&pos=1&action=zoom&id=28239 Peter. Hi Brian, Just for clarification, the fire hobinfoot and PeterR refer to was in the Wicker Goods Station to the right of the wall, bottom right of your pic....hobinfoot would have watched the fire from across the road, and from a roof near where you mention. Please see my post of yesterday which I have since edited. Regards, Peter. Edited August 5, 2015 by PeterR

But it was nice to see the old black/white picture again. Brian
