Sky joins google in leeds it basin

Recommended Posts

i notice that sky is moving into the leeds canal basin alongside google and bringing a further 400 it jobs to leeds. why do they pick leeds when our canal basin is an empty hulk.

Didn't Sky recently open a call centre here in Sheffield?

Because we lack the required infrastructure, this includes a fast road to Manchester, own local airport that is accessible, a city environment that can attract global talent and offer them something extra (over the Wetherspoons and pub-meals).

We also suffer from a very outdated offering in office space, particular in this medium/large range.

...will any of that improve their broadband speed?

Leeds is better placed and has far more to offer it would seem.

Over the years sheffield has been allowed to and some say it has been encouraged to, it appears, have become increasingly a badly managed run-down wasteland.

Clarence Dock Leeds is now called Leeds Dock, the original idea was for a retail shopping and Leisure development which was launched in 2008. Unfortunately that idea was a failure now Leeds Dock and the SKY development is the new reincarnation of that site.
